building the future in 2024
Hello, and thank you for visiting. My name is Cesar Ocampo, and I’m honoured to share a glimpse into my journey with you.
As a passionate seeker of truth through imagery, I’ve always believed that photographs hold the power to convey emotions and stories that words alone cannot capture.
In the words of John Herschel, “Photography is a means to preserve the past, by capturing light and memories.” For me, this sentiment resonates deeply.
My mission is to encapsulate the essence of life’s most profound moments through the lens of my camera, preserving them for generations to come.
My path to photography has been shaped by love, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of my dreams. Twenty years ago, I embarked on a journey to Australia, following the love of my life.
Today, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary with our two wonderful children, I am reminded of the challenges we’ve faced along the way. Despite the obstacles, I remain steadfast in my commitment to turn my passion into reality.
After dedicating over two years to studying at TAFE, I made the courageous decision to pursue my lifelong dream of photography, leaving behind a Marketing Certificate and a Graphic Design Degree. My journey has been marked by diverse experiences, from my 11-year tenure as a commercial photographer for Freedom Furniture to my ventures into lifestyle and fashion photography.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of showcasing my work in various exhibitions and publications, including notable features in architecture and fashion magazines.
From capturing the essence of Fashion Week Australia and Africa for over seven years to being selected as a finalist in prestigious photography competitions like Shoot the Chef and Canon Light Awards, every opportunity has deepened my passion and expanded my horizons.
Finalist, Shoot the Chef Photographic Competition. Featuring Ivan Alejandro Martinez. “A tribute to where it all started. The first fire maker; the first hunter/gatherer; the very first chef.
Finalist, Canon Light Awards competition, featuring my 2 boys, Lucas and Toby with their Australian adopted grandma.
Winner, Canon Collective and Visit Canberra Australia in the street photography category
Also, I got an opportunity to document significant events such as the launch of Ian Thorpe, Lee and Shane Watson’s new business BEON and providing stills for an esteemed insurance company.
As I look ahead, I’m excited to embark on new projects and exhibitions, weaving stories from Colombia, Vietnam, Africa, and Myanmar into the fabric of my art.
