About the Client

HEQS is a furniture retailer committed to providing high-quality outdoor living solutions. They specialise in versatile, modular, and premium outdoor furniture designed to transform residential spaces into relaxing sanctuaries.

Their target audience includes homeowners and individuals looking to elevate their outdoor lifestyle with pieces that balance comfort, durability, and modern design.

The Challenge

HEQS sought to transition their brand image from standard product-focused retail to a high-end, aspirational lifestyle experience:

01
Visual Inconsistency:Previously, the brand lacked professional-grade video and lifestyle imagery, making it challenging to communicate premium product quality.
02
Educational Gap:Functional elements—such as modular adaptability and water resistance—were not visually demonstrated, leaving customers without "visual certainty."
03
Engagement Barrier:The brand struggled to stand out in a crowded market due to the absence of emotive, narrative-driven content.

Discovery & Strategy

The "Media-First" Approach

As Creative Director, we implemented a “Lifestyle Integration” strategy, moving away from static studio setups into an active, high-end retreat environment:

Aspirational Narrative:

Framed products within a weekend-getaway story using real-life model personas—”The Host,” “The Guest,” and “The Dreamer.”

Golden Hour Focus:

Mandated that content be captured during the “Golden Hour” (3:30 PM – 7:30 PM) for warm, high-contrast lighting highlighting fabric texture.

Creative Concept

"Where Everyday Feels Like a Getaway"

The aesthetic was defined by “Slow Luxury.” Utilizing linen and cotton textiles in a neutral palette (Sand, Ivory, Sage), focus remained on form and genuine interactions, supported by slow-motion captures of sun flares and fabric movement.

Pre-Production

Driven by rigorous logistical planning:

Production & Post-ProductionFully Completed

ProductionIntensive capture session across three Avalon Beach retreat zones (Pool Deck, Patio/Veranda, Shaded Garden) using simultaneous variant capture.
Post-ProductionStructured master film from quiet solitude to group connection, alongside 16+ multi-platform social media reels.

Creative Director's Insights

“For furniture, the context is the product. By filming within a lush, aspirational setting, we elevated the product’s perceived value significantly. The ‘Golden Hour’ mandate was the single most impactful creative decision, turning simple product shots into ‘Getaway’ imagery.”
